Mission Shakti 5.0 Drive in Sarojini Nagar Raises Awareness on Cyber Safety and Women’s Rights

Lucknow: Continuing its efforts toward women’s safety and empowerment, the Sarojini Nagar police under the Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign conducted a special awareness programme at Gauri Bazaar, educating women and girls on cyber security, helpline services, and legal rights.

The initiative focused on spreading awareness about rising cyber threats such as online fraud, banking scams, phishing, and fake calls. Police officials sensitized participants about preventive measures and encouraged them to remain vigilant while using digital platforms.

During the programme, the Mission Shakti team provided detailed information on key emergency helpline numbers, including 112 (Emergency Response), 1090 (Women Power Line), 181 (Women Helpline), 1098 (Child Helpline), 1076 (Chief Minister Helpline), and 1930 (Cyber Crime Helpline). Participants were also informed about the functioning of women help desks, Mission Shakti centres, and the UP COP app for quick police assistance.

The session emphasized legal awareness, with officers educating women about their rights and the laws designed to protect them from crimes such as harassment, domestic violence, and cyber offences. The programme also highlighted various welfare schemes run by the central and state governments aimed at supporting women’s financial independence and social security.

The awareness drive was conducted by police personnel including Sub-Inspectors Sapna Sharma and Sumita Singh, along with officers Yashwant Singh and Nirdesh Rajput, and women constables Savita and Sunita.

Officials noted that such community outreach programmes are a crucial step in building trust between the police and the public, while equipping women and young girls with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in challenging situations.

The campaign is part of a broader initiative across the Lucknow Commissionerate, where Mission Shakti centres have been established in all police stations to ensure prompt redressal of women-related issues and to promote a safer, more informed society.
